Woodburn #1 Race Results Going into eliminations, the Sierra Pipe and Reinero teams were in the favorite positions, based
on qualifying. After first round was complete, that did not change. First out, Howard Anderson defeated Joel Matton
with a slight improvement over qualifying 6.80 seconds at over 207MPH and Joel ran a 7.33 in a losing effort. Scott
White matched his qualifying effort running a 7.039 at 199MPH to take the win over Monte Grubb's 7.52. Mike Molea took
the win at 7.16, when Troy Owen had mechanical difficulties. When Mitch Chamberlin was not able to make the 1st round
call, Gary Reinero was on a single and stepped up with a 6.79 at 202MPH. Going into second round, Gary was matched with
Mike Molea and experienced immediate tire shake, but was able to run Mike down with a 7.10 second pass at 201MPH. The
other semi-final matched Howard with Scott White. Howard had the reaction time advantage with a great 0.3 second light
and was on his way to victory. Unfortunately we were blind sided when Scott ran a career best 6.69 seconds to take the
victory over the 6.85 second pass recorded by the 38' Chevy. Gary Reinero destroyed the BAE power plant in the semi-finals
giving the victory to the White Family. Congratulations to the White team, taking the first win available in the 2010
AA/Supercharged Season. With all of the carnage experienced at the first event, preparation for the race at Boise Idaho
just three weeks away will provide lots of drama. Sierrapiperacing.com will be all over the developments.
Woodburn #1 Qualifying Results The AA/Supercharged Association would like to thank the Woodburn staff for adding a third qualifying
pass at the opening event of the AA/Supercharged season. A great turnout included a total of 9 teams
attended the event going for 8 qualifying spots. Unfortunately only 7 teams will make the call for eliminations on Sunday,
as Mitch Chamberlin and Bill Fitting suffered major engine damage on Saturday. When qualifying was complete, the Sierra
Pipe 38' Chevy was sitting on top of the qualifying sheet. A special call goes out to Troy Owen and Joel Matton for
making good qualifying runs on Saturday. Look for elimination results on Monday. 1. Howard Anderson 6.816 207.70MPH 2. Gary Reinero 6.868

Test Results....Fast but Slow Mixed results from the Sacramento test session Friday night. We do know the 38' Chevy is making
plenty of power as seen by the speed recorded on both test runs. 215MPH on the first pass and 214MPH on the second pass.
Unfortunately the ET slip did not reflect the big speed. On the first pass, the clutch was extremely aggressive
and made the car unsettled in the middle of the track. The result was a 6.82 second pass at the previously mentioned
215MPH. The 60' time was a somewhat respectable 1.09, but we are still lacking in the drive shaft speed department.
On the second pass, we removed 20 grams of counterweight and the result was the same. 6.81 seconds at 214MPH, with the
same problems observed on the first run. We now have two sets of data to review and learn from going into Woodburn next
weekend.
2010 March Meet Quick Eliminations
Results Over my nearly 25 years in drag racing, I can
say I have never experienced a patients testing weekend like this one. Friday, we waited all day to make a single pass,
get called to the staging lanes late in the day and get turned around and sent back, based on the ever chilling track temperatures.
I applaud the NHRA and Famoso track officials for looking ahead as apposed to responding after a problem occurs. Saturday
was cold and cloudy with a 54 degree air temperature combined with a 70 degree track temperature. Marginal at best and
the performance of the cars reflected that situation. Sunday brought great racing conditions with temperatures in the
low to mid 60's and sunshine. Normally, first round of eliminations would occur around noon. Delays earlier in
the weekend caused the first round of Funny Car and Top Fuel to occur on Sunday as apposed to Saturday. 16 Dragsters
and 32 Funny Cars, and they wanted to get down to 8 of each prior to running AA/Supercharged. The result was our first
round of eliminations occurring at 5:30 PM. Once again it was getting cold in a hurry. We backed it off to make
sure the 38' Chevy would get down the track. Bad decision, because our opponent Cecil Matthews car responded perfectly
to the changes he made and took down the Sierra Pipe team 6.70 seconds at 208MPH to our 6.96 at 205 MPH. Gary Reinero
was on a single and had room to try something and resulted in a back peddling 7.12 second pass. Chuck Moore took a 1st
round win with a less than stellar 7.56 seconds under power......wow. Congratulations also go to Rob Moore for running
a career best 6.68 second pass in the opening round. Following the opening round, NHRA and track officials decided to
pull the plug on Sunday, with a decision to finish the event on Monday. Chuck Moore took the March Meet title on Monday, defeating Cecil Matthews with a 6.74 second pass
at 204MPH. More March Meet coverage to come.
One Shot Qualifying at the March
Meet The cold and marginal weather conditions dictated
a single qualifying pass for the AA/Supercharged teams attending the 2010 March Meet. As a result, things got really
strange. The Sierra Pipe team was up first and matched up with TK Krupa. Luckily we took a red light and missed
a potential collision, when TK crossed the centerline and took out the 60' cone. The 38' Chevy went right down the groove,
but no time was recorded in either lane. As the session went on, the only other car attending from the Northern AA/Supercharged
association was on top of the qualifying sheet. Gary Reinero ran a 6.85 second pass at 201MPH. Nobody else was
able to make a full pull under power. As eliminations loom tomorrow, it will be anybodies race. We hope the intangibles
will be in our favor tomorrow. Howard has never won the March Meet and this year marks 50 years since Dan took victory
in the A/Sports division. This will prove to be a day to remember in the 51st additon of the March Meet.
Friday at Pomona Today was a day to just be a drag racing fan. We spent some time with friends in the alcohol
funny car pits, but the majority of our time was spent just watching the racing. This was truly refreshing. Tomorrow
we will spend more time back in the pits and see what is really going on. Somehow my son and I ended up in the Top Eliminator
Club. Check out the pictures and captions. Much more to come.
